Here at Young’s Animal Hospital, we are dedicated to internal medicine.
Internal medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the internal body. It is more complex than what most regular veterinarians are used to dealing with. Veterinarians who study internal medicine work with patients who are suffering from nonspecific signs such as lethargy, weight loss, appetite loss, vomiting, and many others.
Our entire staff is dedicated to ensuring that your pet is back to normal as soon as possible. After a technician listens to your pet’s history, our veterinarian will perform a thorough examination. At that time, we will go through your options.
We will need to diagnose your pet before we are able to move ahead with treatment. We routinely perform thorough workups, which includes blood work. We may require some imaging, such as x-rays, ultrasounds, or something else. If needed, we may have to run more precise tests to figure out what is wrong with your pet.
Once we have a diagnosis, we will go over your treatment options. It is always our goal to get your pet feeling better as quickly as possible, so if we can, we will start treatment right away. We have a pharmacy full of medications to get your pet back on track. We also offer hospitalization for pets that need IV catheters and extra care.
Some of the most common diseases that we see are endocrine disorders such as hypo and hyperthyroidism. We also treat Cushing’s disease and Addison’s disease. We treat many infections and inflammation too. We care for patients that suffer from blood diseases and even cancer, and we treat a wide variety of other diseases too.
